Our friends at the 411 present Artery, their annual arts showcase (Sept 9-15). This year's theme is redemption, and features an art gallery, singer-songwriter night, dance showcase, and the musical "Songs for a New World."

Egypt in Brooklyn

Egypt Through Other Eyes is a new exhibition at BAM that looks at the Western fascination with ancient Egypt in the 19th and early 20th centuries. This is definitely not your average visit to the gallery at the Met.

Design Times Square

There's a new public art project coming to Times Square: Urban Forest Project features 185 banners of tree metaphors by celebrated designers and photographers. The artwork will adorn the lightposts on Broadway, 7th, and 8th Ave starting September 1st. (via refresh)
