Since the days of Saint Stephen, the Christian Church has served its own community with counsel, support, and prayer. Members of the first-century church would bring their gifts to the apostles who then distributed it to the community in need. Many churches around NYC have a diaconate fund or provide financial support in times of crisis, including Redeemer, Trinity Baptist, Journey, Brooklyn Tabernacle, and Trinity Grace.
